I have used belly bands on my males for at least 25 years....never had a single issue. I use thick pads that wick the urine away from the skin, so they stay essentially dry....the pads I am using now, last my boys 6-8 hours....I take the pad off when they go outside about every 4-6 hours....they do their business, I bring them in and wash off their penis/tummy area and dry it well, then I put the pad back on if it is still essentially clean and dry...never put a wet nasty pad back on! At night when everyone is ready for bed, some of my males are left to run around the den....they are washed up again, dried well, I use a medicated powder "down there" and replace with a new clean, dry pad for the night. The males that are crated overnight, do not wear a belly band.....they have a Clorox bottle wrapped in a pee pad and placed in their crate, which they pee on during the night.
