That's amazing that a 8 week old puppy can hold 3 hours! How much does she weigh right now?

I crated both Scottie and Casie where they can both see my bed, so it's not really the exact same as your situation. Scottie took months before he stopped whining/barking/making noise throughout the night. Casie took one week before she was quietly sleeping through the night (either I got lucky with her or I learned through my experience with Scottie).

Both of their crates are covered so that they can see me and see out the door of the crate - so basically covered on the top and two sides of the crate. I put a loud ticking clock on the top of the crates to help them sleep. I also leave chew toys in the crate for Casie so she doesn't get bored.

Scottie is now 2 years old and finally reliably 99% outdoor potty trained, so he sleeps in the crate with the crate door opened; he had the rare accident here and there up to 1.5 years old.

Casie is 6 months and is crated with door closed; she can hold her pee throughout the night and holds up to 5 hours during the day. She also eats her meals in her crate - it really helped her like the crate more and after a week I was able to calmly put her into the crate and she didn't make a sound (day or night).
