In the middle of the night, your puppy could jump down without you knowing. Depending on how high your bed is, they could break a leg. If your bed is really low than that is not an issue but if you bed is up high like my bed is, steps are a must have. My last yorkie used to wake up in the middle of the night to go potty and would wake me up to put her back in bed. As a result, I never got a good night sleep. Once I got the steps, I was able to sleep through the night.
