Well on that same show a different day my mouth actually dropped open - a caller was calling in about his mature intact 7ish year old male that was get this DRIPPING BLOOD out of his penis at various times of the day. The owner had not gone to the VET!!! Who the hell does this????? My mouth dropped open not at the caller but at the vets measured response. I thought that vet would at least say come on Man ANY time you see blood it is not GOOD get to a vet. Of course in a much more gentle way he came around to tell that guy you should get him to a vet... He talked about BPH etc and the importance of getting this checked out.
I have seen an 12+ month old Berner obvious double hip dysplasia limping around a park and the frigging OWNERS thought there was something wrong but had not been to a VET!! I have seen more bunny hopping toy breeds that I can not care to recall walking around the streets here - I bite my lips and move on... I have seen dogs with obvious eye problems elbows and hip problems and btw many are NOT purebreds.
Most folks when they get a dog spend not one whit of time thinking about what they would do - should do = can afford to do with a dog that comes up with health problems. Is it like a TV throw it out when it gets sick? How much is too much to spend on drastic health interventions? What about quality of life and years left? How do you think about this. What are your decision criteria Well why should I expect humans to think of this when they don't for their human children???? |
Yep, pretty disturbing world we live in.
