I would not use any flea and tick preventatives on a puppy that small at 8 weeks.

Ideally he should not go outside until he has all of his puppy shots, excluding rabies. Wait on rabies until about 5 - 6 months.

Hopefully some of the people with small Yorkies will tell you what they use for flea and tick preventatives -- for using when your pup is ready. If you were to use Frontline for instance, the smallest "dose" can be split. I have put half the vial on each of my 9 pound boys.

Feeding: Free feed a puppy that small. Have food available at all times and let him eat when he wants. Hypoglycemia is of big concern for puppies, especially really small ones. The stress and excitement of going to a new home increases the risk.
