Any ideas? Finding that most shelters are not coming up with the cutie I am searching for, and perhaps your readers are more in touch with what I am hoping to find.:
I found my boy Zippy in https://www.petfinder.com/animal-shelters-and-rescues/
Originally, he was listed in Idaho, a week or two later they brought him over to Western Washington.. Fell in love with his photo while he was still in Idaho and I didn't know he would brought to near by.. so when they did, I jumped at the opportunity. Yorkie colored shizu type mix... He had some reservations initially but wow is he a loving dog now.. Still doesn't fetch a ball or play tug of war but he rough houses just fine with our pomeranian, they play a lot with vigor, all in fun.
Anyway, hopefully petfinder has some contacts up in Canada for you to look at. The true shelter dogs in smaller towns seem to be advertised there with very reasonable adoption fees. Zippy came from one of the "rescues" and was a bit pricier.
If that doesn't work, hit the web and check the smaller outlying towns animal shelters that you'd be willing to drive to.... The smaller towns have dogs and not as many people to adopt them. I found a lot in Eastern WA while I was looking, but by then, I had already seen Zippy's photo... LOL My goose was already cooked!
