Hi! I am new to the boards. I grew up with a pure bred yorkie. I honeslty can't remember much. No that I am older, we are considering adopting a yorkie mix ( Looks like a yorkie poodle) from an animal shelter. We have already visited him, and he is adorable. He is 1 - to 1 1/2 yrs old, and they just neutered him. He was a stray.
Just looking for some advice? If we adopt we will crate train. Will it be much harder cause of the age? Any tips? Not sure if marking territory may be an issue since he was neutered over the 6 months mark? Anything you want to say I will take your advice. I am all new to this. I am a stay at home mom so that should help me as far as training.
We also want to train him to stay off furniture, but I know yorkies are hard to train.
We would crate train, and then start off with a gated family room as only access until we know he is fully trained. Not sure how long the process will take with a rescue?
