No toothpaste! It may have been ok for your mom or grandmother... cause toothpaste was a basic paste way back when. But these days it contains so many whiteners and abrasives, you really don't want it on your metal. it won't harm your diamond one bit but will do damage to some softer gemstones.
The best at home cleaning is windex and a toothbrush. Some of you were right on! What really dulls your diamond is the finger prints and lotion and other goop your diamond comes into contact with on a daily basis. Windex will cut through all of that and leave a streak free shine! lol.
If you Heat it up all the better. Not Boiling. Just a tad past warm, like a really hot bath. and let it sit untill the windex cools. then brish it reall good with a med tooth brush. run under water and it will sparkle like there is no tomorow!
If you really want the bet clean ever get into a jewelry store and let them put in the ultrasonic. it vibrates even the tiniest particals out from uner the diamond and gives a deep cleaning where your brush can never reach!
If you have a Shane Co near you.... then go there! You can trust us with anything! I just gave my notice and will be leaving Shane Co, as I am moving 600 miles away. But you better beleive that every six months I will Fed-ex my 2.23 ct diamond, along with all of my other jewelry, to them so they can servive my items. With plenty of insurance! I have no problem sending them my things. This company is as honest as they come!
Its true that the jewelry business has its fair share of bad apples. Its sad, but true. But there are still some honest people out there. If you have a Shane Co near you, I urge you to check them out! The clean and check is FREE! Even if it was not purchaced at our store! You'll be made to feel very welcomed!
If you don't have one near by, sorry.... Break out the windex!
: ) | I guess I will be breaking out the windex 'cause ther is no Shane co in Texas. |
