I keep an attorney on retainer, and have done so for many years, "just in case" I need one. Being in a sue happy society, where people actually make a living suing businesses and individuals that are perceived to have a source of finances, you really need to protect yourself and your assets.....he can advise you on separating your business and your personal income, so someone that decides to sue you, does not get access to every dime you have in your business as well as your personal finances. It will be a lot better to have access to a good lawyer and then not need him, than to not have one, and find yourself up to your neck in law suits from some person who lives from year to year off proceeds he makes from TAXFREE lawsuits against fast food restaurants, car washers, grocery stores, yard men, home improvement people, etc, etc, etc....
