Hi my name is Rosie and I have a 2 1/2 hear old male Yorkie named Rocky. He is my buddy and goes with me everywhere. I have a car seat for him and he sits right next to me on the console safely fastened in. He has come a long way and couldn't imagine my life without him. When he was just over a year old he must have been barking excessively and started honking. I called our vet and they assured me it was a reversed sneeze and would resolve. A few days later he was honking more frequently and it looked like he was falling asleep on his feet and falling over. I checked his gums and they were pink so I called the vet again. He was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea and was told he wouldn't live very long that we should consider putting him down. I asked to take him home and they gave me sedatives and steroids to make him comfortable. I layed with him on the couch for 2 days and he was like a ragdoll with no movement. We decided to wean him off the sedatives and allow him to pass peacefully if that was Gods will. He started perking his head up the neck day, then walking the next day and slowly but surely he came around. I give him antihistamines during the warmer months and seems to be doing much better. The main thing is I try not to get him to excited to help prevent his trachea from collapsing again. He is my miracle puppy and I thank God everyday that he is still here with us.
