My dog first went on a chicken and sweet potato diet after he was diagnosed but it did not work well at all for him. He can't handle chicken. We decided to try a novel protein that he had not had before and tried a few before we found that lamb worked well for him. Its not typically a diet that works, but my little guy is thriving on Primal frozen lamb patties. More than a bite of anything else is likely to cause his tummy to flare up, but as long as we stick to the lamb he's fine. When he does occasionally flare we use budesonide. Metronidazole didn't work for him.

Thanks, I was planning on getting the Lamb & brown rice Natural Balance and the Venison and Sweet Potato. I figured one might work.

Did you transition him with the Primal while he was on medication?

I'm wondering if I should start mixing in the new kibble with his Science Diet while he's on the Metro or wait till he's off. In so scared that if I wait, the food change will just throw him into another flare.
