We had to get him back to the seller, who had made the agreement to see how it went with Zeus. I'm afraid Zeus has that "only dog" attitude; similar to my teenage son who loves being an only child. We are really hoping this works out, because we want Zeusy to have someone with him when we are not home. Any thoughts or suggestions? |
Is this what Zeusy wants? If he enjoys being an only child, and MANY do, he will not accept another dog into the home....some are that way, they do fine without another dog around and they will fight, argue, and torment an "interloper" into their family. I had a senior lady that was "an only dog" for many years, and there was no way she was going to tolerate bringing another dog into the family. I spent 5 years, policing and keeping them apart, while loving and making both dogs feel like they were important and loved....a lot of extra work, and when I left the house, my senior who had been an "only child" for 10 years, stayed in my bedroom, sleeping on my bed where she loved being.... If you can separate them without any issues when you are not there to police and patrol two dogs that may break into a fight any minute, that could be a solution, but I would rethink the idea of getting a second dog if your resident is happy being an "only child".
