Let me add this. My first experience with diet in a renal failure pup was years ago and I could not get the pup to eat anything. He also had pancreatitis, so it made it doubly hard to find a dog food that would work for him. One would set off the kidneys and the others would set off the pancreatitis.
My vet suggested I do a consult with a vet at Texas A&M ... he has since retired but he was wonderful! He made up a diet for my pup and my vet put him on Mirtazapine and he ate like a little piggy. This diet, and every other one that I have had formulated for other pups, had multi vitamins in it.... the newer ones use Balance It. I still think this diet above may be not quite as balanced as it should be, but I don't usually say I know something if I don't know for sure. That is the only reason I have changed my stance here. A couple of people messaged me, so I felt I should explain.
Would I feed this to any of my pups? NO. I would never use a diet that was found on the internet unless I absolutely knew the source. I personally don't do anything posted on the internet without checking it out thoroughly as to the source and validity. |
