I got a pen like this for my pups, thinking at first that this would be a good alternative to crating. It was a good option at first, until one of them had a pee pee inside. I did the bet I could with cleaning it, but obviously there was some scent left inside. They then essentially started using it like a large pee pad.

It is a real shame, because it is a great design and folds up into a small carry-pack. We decided to put away until potty training is further advanced. They both really enjoyed playing in it before and I can see it being something we could use when we travel or need to confine them to a small space. But for now, we are not quite there.

Our dogs were not potty trained when we adopted them at 10.5 months, so we had almost a year of no training to overcome. Four months down the line, and we are about 95% there. So we may bring it back in the near future.

I think a small X-pen might be a better choice, as you could continue the pee pad training inside of the pen and there would not be any tempting textiles for your pup. You mentioned you had wood floors, so I can see that working well.
