No sweetie....how long have you been actively involved in this breed, every aspect of this breed?....I have been involved with Yorkies for at least 25 years, actively breeding them for over 16 years....I am very well versed in yorkies and in what these dogs can and can not eat. As a breeder, I stay up to the minute on health and care of these babies, so I can educate correctly and professionally, people that buy my puppies, as well as anyone else interested in accurate and reliable, documented information about everything that affects their yorkie. I have preferences, which I always indicate are my OWN preferences, and not necessarily information gleened from vet books and extensive educational classes/programs/continuing education classes. I have many people that are owners of my babies, and I stay in touch with these people the entire life of their babies, so I am not new or uneducated about this....you can feed your pup whatever you like, but dont give out incorrect information to people that depend on knowledgeable breeders/owners/show people, to provide them safe and reliable information on their pets. The seed of the avacado contains chemicals you dont want to give your pet, and you dont want to feed guacamole (sp!!) but, a couple small chunks of avacado will NOT hurt your pet. Individual pets may not tolerate avacado, just like I can not eat bologna anymore because it gives me indigestion, but MY intolerance to bologna does not make bologna poisonous to every body else and result in my call for a ban for everyone else not eat it!
Millions of people read this forum and use the information posted on here daily, in an effort to keep their pets safe and healthy. Preferences for one thing or another must be noted as such....avacado "meat" may not be something you want to give your pet, but it is not poisonous to dogs, just dont feed the seed!
“Despite the rumors, avocado is not poisonous to dogs, nor likely to cats,” says Dr. Justine Lee, a board-certified emergency critical care veterinary specialist and author of two popular books on pets. “Dogs and cats don't seem to be affected by persin,” explains Lee.
