If your yorkie is a puppy, baby is teething and chewing on stuff to relieve the pain in his teeth/gums is natural and to be expected. Providing him with lots of chew toys of different textures will help some, but if given an opportunity, doors and cabinets and walls, etc are preferred! If baby is doing this when you are away, you need to seclude your baby in an x-pen to keep him from wandering all over the house, having a ball exploring and trying new things! Contain him in an x-pen, positioned away from anything you dont want him to scratch on thru the bars of the x-pen....when he is with you and he starts to chew on anything you do not want him to chew on, redirect him, hand him an acceptable substitute chew toy and you will need to do this every time you catch him chewing on unacceptable items. Consistence, persistence, and diligence with correction..... |
