Sounds like you're on the right track!
Note that from my experience, they wanna pee more when they're in motion (that's why they can hold it in longer when they've been sleeping all night). So before playing, let them pee first to prevent accidents.
If there are accidents and you happen to catch them in action, you can do a firm "NO" so they at least know it's a no-no. If they've already had the accident and you discover it after the fact, it's too late and you'll just have to clean it up irritation-free :P Nature's Miracle products are great for getting rid of scents so they pee in the same spots again.
Oh and also for me, it worked best to prevent accidents by having Scottie within my sight at
all times. He was first tethered to me if I went farther than his allowable space. Otherwise, he was kept in a small space - gradually earning more and more space within my home as he "earned it" by having no accidents. If you have a big home, you'll have to do it very very gradually
Lucky for me, my home is super tiny.
