Danasue, talk to your vet about administering fluids at home yourself. Fluids often greatly improves the quality of life for a pup in renal failure. I lost a 16 year old to renal failure last year. We had him with us much longer than we expected to, but we gave him daily fluids at home for over 2 years. It is not hard to do and your vet or vet tech can teach you in one or two short sessions.
