Question Adjustment Time For New Biewer...

Hi everyone. I know it has been a while since I have posted but I have great news along with needing some advice.

I have been looking for another Biewer as a companion for JB for a while now, for he is just so social and I know he enjoys being with other dogs. A breeder I have gotten to know is offering me 1 of 2 very sweet females that are retired champions in the show ring and also have had their last litters. They are use to being crated, but, since having the pups they have had the run of a larger room (day and night) with puppy pads/paper to go potty on. They also go out 2x a day in a large fenced yard.

I am looking for some advice to introduce a 2nd dog to the household. My current routine is simple; out in the morning, feed and confined in my large kitchen with puppy pads and pet bed while I am at work, come home and go out, feed, has full access to the house to spend time, water is up at 7pm, out around 9-9:30pm, sleeps unconfined in our bedroom in his pet bed until morning (he can go 9-10 hrs easy). The word "housebroken" means different things to different people. JB will not ask to go out, for we are on such a schedule that there is really no need (even on the weekends). When he is free to roam the house when I am home, puppy pads are NOT down.

The two females available are not spayed and as part of the agreement, I will be paying for this to be done once I see things are going well. During this time, even though JB is neutered, I have to watch to see if he will mark anywhere until I can get the spay done. I will be bringing the dog home in a soft sided crate and then introducing her to her new surroundings by allowing her to stay in the crate with the door open until she feels comfortable to come out. After that, my concerns are nighttime. I have 2 options that have been presented to me; keep the female in the kitchen at night by herself with pee pads OR have her upstairs with us staying in the crate all night (following same routine with feeding and water up at 7pm, etc). I am thinking the latter is best. Maybe we could then eventually eliminate the crate at night or even just leave it there open for her to go in and out at her leisure without us worrying about waking up to an accident on the floor.

Any/all advice is appreciated!!
