I had a gentleman walk up to my car in the grocery store parking lot, while I was waiting for my son to come out after he got off work. He had a little male yorkie and he wanted to know if I would be interested in using that stud on my females..... I wanted to just get stupid and chat with this man, so I would know where he was coming from and where he thought he was going to end up. Terrifying...... he knew absolutely NOTHING about his little males parents, let alone grandparents, great brand parents, etc, back for 9-12 generations.....his little dog was not registered, "but that really is not important, because when you go to sell the pups, you just tell people they can get the puppy unregistered for $650.00 or so, and then you triple the price if they want papers!! THAT is enough to scare them off from wanting the registration papers....and he had been told by a friend that has done this for years, if you only breed a litter or two a year, and you are not registering them, you are flying below the radar and wont have to deal with all those legal eagles and dog registration approvals and such....". He gave me his card with his email on it, so I could get a copy of HIS sale contract, and "as much of a guarantee he gives out....with just the male, he has no responsibility for any deformed, sick babies or litters/moms that dont survive....."slam, bam, thank you ma'am!"...... He was actually educating me on how to screw people out of money for stud fees, without assuming any legal responsibility for the mother and the off spring....when I acted a little puzzled and concerned about the poor dogs/puppies that may suffer because of poor breeding, he laughed and told me I may not be "cut out to do this after all....this is a business, and you just can not concern yourself about all the if's, ands or buts".....dogs live, dogs die...."

These are the predators that are out there, breeding yorkies and collecting $$$$$$$$.....so, the next time you think a reputable breeder is trying to gyp you out of money, or you think the prices she has on her babies is outrageous, just consider what predators are out there, roaming around, looking for you and your desire to own a yorkie.
