Some breeders will offer puppies without AKC registration because it is less expensive for both seller and buyer. It is rare for good breeders to do this, and I would avoid it. Can you confirm that the parents are AKC registered, other than the breeder's word?
I would not consider buying from a breeder if I could not find any information about the person. Does the person test the breeding dogs for genetic disorders? What kind of health guarantee is offered?
As Cindy wrote, be careful. Research and patience will pay off.
