Start teaching the command "leave it". If you need tips on how, I can link some. Mario will leave food I place(drop) right in front of him for longer than 5 min. He is so funny about it too. I put him in a stay command then drop food where he can reach it, but immediately say leave it. He will then "snub" the food. He will not even look at it
