I'm thinking false pregnancy as well. That is most likely the cause of the guarding.
So is this her third heat or second heat? Two times for her age is normal, but three times means she either started her first heat very early and/or her cycles are happening too frequently.
Is there any possibility she has come in contact with an unneutered male?
