I like the suggestion of volunterring at a shelter, and I think this is a really good idea for meeting new friends - becuse I know they would love critters as much as I do. As for my friend, the more I think about it, the less I really care. After I found out Tinky's diagnosis (and she knew I was very very upset) she never texted, called, or anything - when I have other friends who do check on her. I know it sounds silly, but this means a lot to me. The more I think about it, she really isn't as good of a friend as I thought. I know if one of my friends pups was sick I would at least check in. And I'm the only one who initiates contact with her, always the first to call or text.
Wow - you were lucky. Any wedding I've known the bridesmaids buy their own dresses, plus pay for wedding shower, bachelorette party, and other costs. It definitely is a commitment.
