This whole animal rights movement has the ultimate goal of ending pet ownership. Right now they're making great progress in ending pure bred dog breeding.
I can only hope those of you who enjoy your pure bred dogs will take an interest and fight this kind of legislation that will eventually prevent you from obtaining a pure bred dog. Forget the distinction between pet store, backyard breeder or responsible breeder. Your choice is being taken away from you!
NOTE: years before I ever thought of becoming a breeder I purchased a Maltese and a Yorkie from pet stores. Though not the most beautiful examples of their breeds, they were reasonably healthy and made great pets. I once had a trusted veterinarian who owned a pet store that sold puppies. I don't think it's the worst thing that can happen to the breed that puppies are sold in pet stores. The worst thing will be when nobody is allowed to breed them any more. |
