He buried his face in my lap and froze still as a statue. We live in a very small and remote town with no dog parks. I'd like for him to become friends with my sister's dog but I need advice on how to help him. He's really the friendliest guy with the best personality. (I don't know if he's ever seen another dog other than his mom and litter mates 7 years ago)
I would do something like this:

1. Expose him to the puppy frequently (if they both have all their shots), but do not push him to play or even be near the puppy....just let him watch from safety for a while.

2. Do not let the puppy badger him or smother him.

3. Take a wait and see approach and slowly his curiosity may kick in.

4. Even after he shows curiosity, continue to protect from being overwhelmed for quite some time.

5. Let your yorkie entirely set the pace for his exposure to the pup.

If you can get him used to one dog, then slowly approach another in about the same manner. See how it goes from there.
