My son is in the Air Force And I once kept a cat for a deployed navy friend of his for 10 months. Cali and the cat got along OK - sort of ignore end each other (the cat was very old), but when the deployment was over and the cat went home Cali looked for that cat for months. When they were in the yard calimwould tryntomcefend the cat against anything she thought could be a problem and the cat did follow her around out there.
