Our little Peanut is now 1-1/2 years old, but just before age 1 she became a terror. She barked at every little noise, was paranoid, and chased anything with wheels. We went through intense training to get her back into control.
Frequent training and commands with treats throughout the day, using the gentle leader leash on walks, learning the 'leave it' command all helped. The moment just before she reacts to a car we need to get her attention with a loud "leave it" and get her to look at us as the car passes. Lots of praise and a treat right after. We also rang the door bell over & over, pulled out the vacuum a few times a day, etc - anything that would normally make her react - to desensitize her to her triggers. |
