Oh yes, these things are straight from the devil. Here in Idaho we have cheet grass that is very similar to fox tails but longer. My friend had her dog get a cheet grass in him & they shot dye in him so they could follow the trail in the dog until they found it, cost her $3,000 at WSU but he made a full recovery. The problem with these things is they have tiny little barbs on them so when they go in they just keep traveling whatever way the tip is headed as the barbs will not allow them to back out. They get in noses & ears & travel straight to the brain. I HATE them.
