I am so very sorry you are facing this. An aggressive cancer is just that aggressive with a poor prognosis and limited treatment options.
I have had experience with an aggressive form of lymphoma and the prognosis was very poor I elected to go ahead with cancer treatments in the hope of my young lass surmounting the odds. The thing with dogs is that they are relatively well and then very very ill - even suddenly overnight. Weight loss especially coupled with a diagnosis of cancer is unfortunately one of the hallmarks of this scourge called cancer.
Unfortunately Tink the vet is quite likely right. They don't give these timeframes without applying their vast experience......
My heart goes out to you and your Mom.
