Are pets allowed in national parks? We've always wanted to take Uni on hikes. She loves hiking and climbing, but we (meaning I) would probably end up carrying Toto. I'd be scared to take them when it's warmer due to bugs coming out in the Spring, but of course wouldn't want to go when it's cold either.
