Rainy, I would disagree with your vet, it all depends on how diligent one is about changing the pad and keeping him clean and dry, UTI is bacterial and if the boy is not wiped often and kept dry a build up can happen. When I use them I wipe them down often with an unscented baby wipe and let them air dry before putting a new pad and band on.
