I have used this....no problem. Vets will try to talk you out of using anything they dont sell. Many, many large scale kennels/animal rescue/etc, where there are a number of dogs, use this because it is so cost effective for those establishments. I use this because it is so effective for heartworms and it is cost effective for me and the dogs I have.
THAT being said, I am having an absolutely terrible time with FLEAS.....ever since that last flood we had, my yard is eaten up with fleas.....I have NEVER had an issue with fleas like I have had the last 4 months! I am using Frontline Flea spray....I think I am feeding the fleas with this stuff....it is NOT working for me! I just ordered some heartworm/flea/worm combination med from Australia, and they get their first dose this weekend. It will take a couple of months to see if I have made a good move doing this......but I will let you all know. If anyone wants to try it now, it is called "HFT EZYBONES".....for heartworms/fleas/tapeworms......the active med is Ivermectin for the heartworms.....
The little "bones" are about 1 inch long.....each "bone" pill is for 8.8 -22 lbs....I called to speak with the vet in Australia about effective dosing for dogs under 8.8 lbs...they said to break the pill in half, because the way it is mixed, the ingredients are equally mixed thru out the little bone....half a bone would effectively treat a 5#-11# dog with no issue.
They say they are "enjoyed like treats" and very easy to give.....my dogs have NEVER taken ANY pill easily!!! I have always had to hide it in little meat treats....I expect no difference here wiyth this pill.....I will get some raw hamburger meat and make little "heartworm pill loaded treats" this weekend for the kiddos and see how effective this stuff is for fleas!
