Welcome to YT.

SHAME on breeders who sell their pups at 6 weeks of age. Shame, shame, shame!

So glad the puppy is doing better with his leg. I don't know how old your niece is, but I would not let anyone hold your pup until she is a lot older. As JKPal says, you have to be VERY careful with these wee pups. They can get hurt very easily. The night I brought Lacy home, I was sitting in a chair holding her and she was fine for an hour or so, then all of a sudden, she just bolted from my arms. The chair was right next to the kitchen table, so she landed on the kitchen table, but if the table hadn't been there, she might have fallen to the floor and gotten hurt. That taught me a very valuable lesson, to make sure i had a very firm hold on her at all times when holding her.

Good luck with your pup, a couple of months from now, everything will be much easier!
