Thank you all. Varying answers, rather like what is going on in my mind. Thank you. Yes, separate houses and decisions I have no control over, nor expect, regarding a second dog. But, I need to care for this little guy in a way that protects him and makes living here both cordial and loving.
Yes, I am aware of the predators. I feel birds, there are hundreds of them just outside my deck. A large walnut tree protects them from site in season. I always know when a predator is near. The birds disappear.
