If I were pad training a dog, age does not matter, she knows what the pad is for, when she pees where ever she feels like, take the pad from where you placed it, absorb the pee with the pad, place the pad back where you what it, pick her up and place her on the pad and tell her, "pee pee on the pad" (or what ever you call it). No raising of the voice, no punishing, patience and consistency are the key words. She may associate the pad with her crate only. Clean the area where she peed with an enzyme cleanser, like
Nature's Miracle urine destroyer.
