I woke up one day with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. If I laid on my right side or tilted my head back the room would start spinning, a sensation cause by nystagmus. It pretty much freaked by dh out when I showed him what my eyes would do when my head was in that position. It made me very dizzy and nauseous, so it's good that he is able to eat. Try to observe if the eye twitching starts when his head is in a certain position.
