Yes, skinless plain chicken breast and white rice. I steam the chicken, but most people boil it.

Treats can definitely do it. Keep in mind also that over-eating of any food can cause diarrhea in these small dogs.
For treats, I am pretty conservative. We use steamed chicken, very tiny amounts of parmesan cheese, baked sweet potato, scrambled egg, and a few other things. What works for one dog may not work for another, but I would emphasize tiny portions. Other than the chicken and rice, I give my 9 pound boys only a taste of the other things.
