Until you become a professional, seasoned breeder/shower, you cant do one thing that has anything to do with Yorkies or showing, that can be considered a waste of time. It is all a valuable learning event. I would show him...learn what his strengths are, what his faults are....and learn what you need to be looking for, looking at....you will meet other show people....get in good with them....let them know you can be trusted and you want to learn how to show and breed the very best example of the breed you can....some will smirk at you...walk past it....but some will give you constructive criticism, which is brutal and tough to swallow, but gird your loins and get in there with the Big Boys! When they see you are not some back yard breeder, that you really do want to breed and show yorkies, you will slowly be taken in and they will share little bits and pieces with you.....but you know how some posters on this site, if not treated with kid gloves and constantly cooed at and coddled, they get all pissy and snatch their ittle toys up and run away? Well, working with major show people behind the scenes, will separate the wheat from the shaft, separate the ones genuinely devoted to the breed and improving it by breeding and showing the best, from the ones that cant take it, that think this is all fun and games and great income source! You ask ANY serious, dedicated breeder/shower....they very seldom break even on their dogs.....Total dedication, commitment to the breed, acceptance of some failures and the death of precious babies and acceptance this is NOT a money making adventure you are about to undertake.......remembering those key points will prepare you for this adventure, without surprise or disappointment!
