Bless your heart for taking on this enormous responsibility and provide this baby girl a safe home to whelp her little family.
Do you know ANYTHING about what she was bred to at all???!! I would take her and have an xray done, so the vet can count how many babies you need to be expecting....you can also see the size of the babies and the vet should be able to measure your momma's pelvic ring to see if these babies are going to have problems fitting thru the birth canal....if these babies are too large, you will need to do a c-section or yopu can very easily loose the entire shooting match, momma included....your vet will be able to provide this service a lot cheaper than an emergency clinic will....you will do better to have any necessary c-section done in the day, during office hours of your vet, rather than getting hung up in an emergency clinic in the middle of the night.
You need a large "box" or crate, ....my birthing crates are about 34 x 60 inches.....mommas cardboard box, where she is secluded with her babies, is on one end of this whelping crate.... with a heating pad UNDERNEATH the box, NOT IN IT,....measuring 30 inches x 25 inches......this is her private space with her babies, keeping them all warm and safe and secure....if you are interested, I can send you pics of my set up, but you will need to send me your email address, as my computer skills are horrific and I have NO idea how to post pics on this site!!
You want to have on hand First Born brand puppy milk....you want a bottle of Pedialyte (unflavored), you want an egg yolk, live cultured yogurt, and Dr.Millers Nutra Drops, available on line.....If you need to feed these babies after they are born, I will give you the formula for mixing this milk up for your babies, which will deliver the required calories/cc for newborns to keep them thriving. This should get you started....contact me at
