If there's someone who has the Tile app is close by, it'll pick up the signal and send it to your phone automatically. I bought 4 of them for my sisters b/c they misplace their key all the time but I saw that some ppl were using it for their beloved pets as well.
It's small and really light so you can put it on their collars. But at the same time, if you have a 5 lbs furbutt, it might be little big.
