There's really no right or wrong when it comes to style.
I also prefer to keep my two in short cuts. Personally find it more appealing and it's so much easier to manage.
If you ever think about grooming yourself, there are MANY tutorials you can learn from. With so many horror stories that appears, many of the members on YT (including myself) have taken the route of doing it at home.
