Aww.. don't be too hard on yourself. We all go through the learning curves.
Instead of mixing it with his regular food, I'd say just give him the chicken/rice by itself. You can also give him some canned pumpkin to firm up the diarrhea. Just make sure it's the organic/100% pumpkin. You can either get it at the local grocery or pet store.
