Default Suspicion of a liver shunt

I took my dog, Cooper, to the vet because I suspected he had a urinary tract infection. The dr. told me that they were going to do a quick scan ultrasound to see what was going on. They found a bladder stone so they ran bloodwork. The bloodwork is pointing toward liver dysfunction and the urinalysis says the stone is struvite. Now they want to do an abdominal ultrasound which will cost $300 and that may not be conclusive. In which case they would do another series of blood tests and some kind of a scan with contrast. All I know is this is getting very expensive very fast but I love my dog. I am wondering if any facility in TX will do these procedures less expensively and if he needs liver shunt surgery who in TX might do it for a more reasonable price. Cooper and I are in San Antonio. Please help!
