I always remind people here to have Benadryl (BOTH pill and liquid) on hand and ready to give at a moment's notice bc it can and will and does save lives from severe allergic reactions. I always have the correct dosage cut up in the pill form (for easy giving to the dogs) and then I also have the liquid form for forcing it, in case of emergency.

The dose for Benadryl is 1-2mg/pound, but in the case of a real reaction - I'd FOR SURE be giving the 2mg/pound dosage (and perhaps even more if recommended by the vet for an individual situation, which can occur).

I guess if I were you, I'd want steroid pills on hand at all times - and perhaps even an EPI Pen on hand, even though they're pricey....would probably still be less than a vet trip.

Have you given more Benadryl yet this morning? If not, I'd give it...
I have an appointment at a vet that is 1.5 hours away because my regular bet isn't in today. I haven't given her anymore Benadryl yet. I'm going to wait until we get to the vet unless it gets to the point where I have to. I have a Benadryl injection and one prednisone pill in case of a severe emergency but she's ok at the moment. I just don't understand what it could be. I don't see it being a bite or sting AGAIN.
