Your little guy is absolutely adorable and does have quite the coat!
I keep my 2 boys in full coat. Max has never had a problem with poop, but Teddy required help his first 2 years. I don't think he was squatting as well, and he was always in a hurry.
I very carefully trim around their backsides.
Pee: keeping the underside shaved helps, the belly and inner legs. My boys are leg lifters outdoors, so after a lot of marking I usually end up giving them a body wash. They have "pee strings," a little hair left on the penis to direct urine downward that we clean daily.
