A general vet really should be able to diagnose most eye issues such as what you are describing. I posted above about one of mine who has some brown on his eye. I will try to get a photo of it and post it tomorrow.
A light discharge from the eyes is not something to really be too concerned about unless it is getting worse and is discolored. She could have allergies...have you tried Benadryl to see if it helps? I have a foster right now who has red skin around her eyes....we tried Benadryl and also another antihistamine and she is now on Temeril P and doing fairly well. If she continues to have problems we may consider putting her on Apoquel....right now it is a wait and see what happens. Sometimes they just have seasonal allergies and don't need year round meds.
