I got my Scottie when he was 5 months, crated him since the first day I got him, and went through months of him crying through the night (anywhere from 2am to 5am like a human baby) because he hated the crate.

I chose to continue crate training him because I read that you just have to be strong and get past that hump. I trusted the words of many who were successful with crate training.

And so, by the time he was a little over 1 year old, he was fully house trained, pees and poos outdoors only, and even loves his crate (will crawl into his crate himself to sleep with the crate door left open). I stuffed an old down pillow in his crate so it's VERY comfy.

But, this took a LOT of patience, months of sleepless nights, and positive reinforcement training with the crate.
