I have a boy with full facial furnishings and we use two tiny rubber bands, one closer in the front to catch the shorter broken hairs, and another farther towards the back to keep the topknot from flopping over forward. We also use a plastic mini barrette most of the times even farther towards the eyes. We don't actually use bows. Seems too formal for everyday. The mini rubber bands you can buy a pack of like 1000 at the dollar stores. You are supposed to cut them out instead of pulling them out. Less damage.
