I didn't mean to imply you should encourage the humping, per se, by redirecting the behavior. I only mentioned the redirecting bc for many, many dogs humping is a very natural, instinctive need that they really have....2 of my 3 boy dogs hump their stuffed "lover dog" and my girl dog humps her donut bed. I never admonish them for this behavior bc it's fulfilling some need for them. I would, however, discourage them from humping humans () and/or other doggies...but they've never ever done that, thankfully .
